Mini badger brushes - initital release

I am happy to finally introduce my mini badger brushes.  There were quite a few people requesting a mini badger after I posted a photo of one I made for fun back in 2022. The project mini badger brush got more serious with my work on J4. This is the first batch with the tip treatment made inhouse. In order to save time and money, I decided to only make mini knots. This was one of my wisest decisions since it took maaany iterations to get the treatment right. However, this gave me the opportunity to get very familiar with very small knots and their behavior to changes in density and loft.

The first release of mini badger brushes utilizes hair I purchased a while ago. This was only a tiny batch. Normally, this amount would have been just enough to make one or two 27mm knots after I used the rest for test knots to figure out the ideal specifications for this hair. But I think this tiny batch is very suitable for the first release of mini brushes. This is a high grade two band badger hair with long tips. The treatment was not made by me, but I think it was done nicely. The hair is very soft while still providing natural feedback.

Here are some specs for you:

  • Handle height Stratos: 37.4 mm
  • Handle height Nimbus: 37.1 mm
  • Knot diameter: 14 mm
  • Loft: 41.5 mm

Overall, I think very small knots like this 14mm one are generally underappreciated. They perform very well, if you are looking for an efficient one or two pass shave or for shaving the contours of your beard without creating a high amount of excess lather. Of course, if you insist on having mountains of lather for many passes, this is probably not the right tool for you.

I sure hope this offering catches your attention and you are curious to check it out for yourself.
